As of May 4, 2025, responsibility for IBC’s personnel security support transitioned from the IBC to the Department’s Office of Law Enforcement and Security (OLES).

The National Security Division within OLES will now oversee all personnel security support. Customer resources will continue to be available on IBC’s Customer Central website until further notice.

PIV Card/Credential

The Personal Identification Verification (PIV) credential is designed to enhance security, reduce identity fraud, and protect personal privacy by establishing a mandatory, government-wide standard for secure and reliable forms of identification.

Along with this process are the following requirements:

  • All personnel issued a PIV Card/Credential must have a favorably adjudicated background investigation, including an FBI fingerprint check.
  • All personnel must be "identity-proofed," that is, they must present two (2) forms of acceptable identification at their enrollment appointment.
