This edition of the Benefits Digest focuses on webinar and online learning opportunities to help you learn more about your employee benefits.
Opportunities to Learn More About Your Employee Benefits
Summer is a great time to get ahead on understanding your federal employee benefits before the Federal Benefits Open Season begins in the fall. Whether you are new to federal service, mid-career, or planning for retirement, it’s always worthwhile to review the benefits available to you.
Below are two opportunities to learn more about your dental and vision plans, and your retirement savings and investment options through the Thrift Savings Plan.
FEDVIP On-demand Webinars
The Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP) offers live and on-demand webinars to help you better understand eligibility and enrollment, including qualifying life events. To attend a webinar, visit FEDVIP On-demand Webinars.
In addition to the FEDVIP webinars, you can learn more about dental, vision, Long Term Care, and Flexible Spending Accounts by exploring these programs on the BENEFEDS website. The BENEFEDS website also offers great decision-making tools, such as the Plan Compare Tool and the Compare Dental Service Costs Tool. You do not have to wait until open season to start planning.
TSP Online Learning (Recorded & Live Webinars)
The Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) is part of your retirement benefit package as a federal employee. To learn more about the TSP and its many features, consider taking one of these free webinars:
- Intro to the TSP
- Roth TSP
- TSP Contributions
- TSP Distributions
- TSP In-Service Withdrawals
- TSP Investment Funds
- TSP Loans
- TSP Death Benefits for Beneficiaries and Participants
The webinars are hosted by the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board and are available as pre-recorded sessions or live presentations. Registration is not required. Visit the TSP Online Learning page to access the recorded webinars and to find dates, times, and links for the live sessions.
In addition to the opportunities outlined above, you can use other online resources available on OPM’s website (Healthcare & Benefits and Retirement) to strengthen your understanding of your employee benefits. The more you know about your benefits, the better equipped you are to make informed decisions about your financial future.
