Governmentwide Treasury Account Symbol Adjusted Trial Balance System (GTAS)

Each validation will have a corresponding error message that is displayed if the validation fails upon upload.

GTAS will not run the accounting edits until the data passes all data validations. Any changes required to the file must be made by the preparer in Oracle; there is no online data entry module in GTAS.

Data validations are always fatal. You cannot proceed until the data has been fixed within Oracle, the bulk file has been re-created, and the validations have been passed. The following link provides summary information for each validation error.

Once the bulk file data has passed all data validations, the system automatically runs the accounting edits against the bulk file.

Edits are used to ensure accounting rules are followed. For example, an edit would check to confirm that a CTAS does not have a balance other than zero for USSGL account 1010, "Fund Balance with Treasury."

All edits will be run against each individual TAS. Each edit will have a corresponding error message that is displayed if the edit fails upon upload.

There are two types of edits within GTAS: Proposed Analytical and Fatal. You will not be able to certify your data until all Fatal edits have been passed.

Most validation and edits need to be corrected by the Agency within the application. IBC has a team to assist users when the Agency has identified their data is correct, but Oracle is not generating a valid report. These types of issues may take days to resolve. IBC recommends uploading your file as soon as possible within the GTAS reporting window. A file can be uploaded numerous times in GTAS until certified. IBC will work closely with the Agency to assure the data in Oracle matches what is uploaded in GTAS. IBC requests manual changes to the bulk file not be made, uploaded nor certified.
