No, letters of recommendation are not considered documentation for Due Weight purposes. If an applicant is unable to submit their performance appraisal, they would need to submit a letter explaining the circumstances as outlined in the vacancy announcement. Each applicant has the opportunity to provide the Due Weight documentation.

Each HM can decide how to document their application of Due Weight consideration. Adding a note or paragraph in the HM’s case file should be sufficient. Some HMs add a note in the spreadsheet they use to track applicants.

No. For applicants requesting Due Weight consideration, Due Weight is not a guarantee for selection. The HM is only responsible for giving consideration to the additional documentation the applicant has provided.
